DevLog 01 - Welcome to Spy Guy Assassin Dude!
Introduction
Hi! Welcome to the first ever devlog for my first ever commercial game, Spy Guy Assassin Dude! To start off, I want to personally thank you for checking this new project out! I really am excited to be able to share the progress I make on this project, and hope that this turns into something that you can enjoy with friends and family. Without further ado, here's what I have for you!
Gameplay
Since this is a brand-new project, I'd like to explain the main concept for this game before getting too in-depth on the progress I've made since starting. This game is called Spy Guy Assassin Dude, and is 2-4 player competitive couch party game originally based off a minigame I made a year or two back on the game LittleBigPlanet 3 (which you can check out now if you own the game! My username is TheRealLSWC).
The premise of the game is simple. Two to four spies (you and your friends!) are dropped into a custom map, each having a common goal in mind; to track down and kill all other players lurking around on the map. This sounds simple enough, until you realize that you are not the only ones in this map. Each are bustling with AI's identical to the player that walk and interact with the map in different ways. Each player must blend in with the AI crowds whilst trying to spot the others doing the same to kill the other players and inevitably win the game!
Spy Classes and Abilities
To help you complete this task, each player is given a few unique abilities; those being attacks and distractions. These abilities will have different effects depending on the class of spy you choose. For example, the most basic class, the Knife Class, is able to stab players and AI with a melee knife with decent range. For their distract ability, they can spray an ink bomb that covers about a fifth of the screen, allowing them to escape in any tight situations they are in, such as accidentally giving their position away (like seen above). Another example is the Gunner Class, who is able to shoot a bullet at players and AI with a long range. Their distract ability allows them to spray an ink bomb that covers a smaller portion of the the screen.
The game will feature a wide selection of different classes, that will be showcased in future devlogs for this game!
Maps
In addition to multiple classes, the game will also allow players to vote for a custom map to play on! Each map will have different sizes, shapes and attributes to them. (Please note that all of the following are subject to change, and no detail about them is permanent.)
Name | Map Art | Unique Attributes of the Map |
Jays High School Hallway | 1. 3 Classroom Warp Doors (At the top and bottom of the map) 2. Every 30 seconds, a school bell will go off and AI's will begin dashing from one end of the hall to another. This will last for about 15 seconds until another bell rings and the hallway becomes clearer again.
Ninja Training Dojo | 1. When a player rings the gong in the center of the map, all AI's will hop up in surprise, and players will stay put. This will reveal the location of players in the map.
Wild Western Train | Map's pixel art will be coming soon! | 1. The train will be moving to the left constantly, forcing players to have to make their way up, adding the potential to reveal their location while doing so! |
Container Dock | Map's pixel art will be coming soon! | 1. The docks will be littered with security guards patrolling the area. If you get in their flashlight's line of sight, your player will be revealed! |
